JAMES' TRAINING UPDATES

Hey guys, hope all is well with you and you are on track with whatever goals you have set yourself for 2007?! If not, why not make it today that you write them all down and start putting into action whatever it is you need to make your life fuller, healthier and more enjoyable?

My training diary is now up and running (link is on the right) and that seems to be a good outlet for me. It also means there is a part of the website that I can manage myself haha! Things have been quite up and down lately; I seemed to be on track in my preparation for the races I was planning towards the end of March, however I came off my bike near the start of February and it's looking like it will be a couple of weeks at least before I am able to ride again (ten days and counting so far). Pretty gutted, I feel fairly unfit at the moment although I'm not sure how much of that is purely psychological?! Thanks to Scotty Browns bike shop for the repair work by the way.

Couple of great websites to check out that I have been using lately:

www.ironmantalk.com

An awesome site where you can download weekly podcasts and learn heaps of stuff about 'all things Ironman'. Hosted by Bevan James Eyles and Coach John Newsom, the show takes an informative and always entertaining look at what's happening in the IM world as well as training tips, guest seminars, race results and heaps more. For those of you that are confused, an Ironman is made up of a 3.8km swim, 180km bike and finishes with a 42.2km run. This is my main goal and I have my sights firmly set on the 2009 NZIM up in Taupo. Definately a challenge that is on my 'To Do' list along with Epic Camp.

www.powercookies.com

Emily Miazga is a Canadian nutritionist and also a top multisporter that has developed a great range of cookies with the athlete firmly in mind. They have ˝ the fat of ordinary cookie brands as well as being low G.I but they haven't lost any of the taste! They are individually plastic wrapped and perfect for those long runs or rides. Her website is pretty good too – enough on there to keep you interested and some cool nutritional stuff too. Em's race CV is impressive, and I'm guessing her biggest win would have been the 2006 Coast To Coast. Keep up the good work Emily!

www.coffeesofhawaii.com

This is simply the best coffee I have tasted… end of story! I have been lucky enough to get my hands on some and I can tell you it is beautiful, there aren't any coffees here in NZ that compare. Mention that you heard about their coffee through my site and I am sure Albert will look after you with your order – they have a fantastic team of people working for them.

Well that's about it from me for another few weeks. Take care out there on the roads and motorists PLEASE KEEP BOTH EYES OPEN FOR CYCLISTS & RUNNERS. I'm itching to get back into my training now, also looking forward to riding with Bevan from Ironmantalk.com and Epic Camp once I get some decent power back into the legs. That should be good. Stay safe and train harder, laters JAMES.
